A teenager is expected to recover after a fiery crash between a car and a dump truck in Innisfil on Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened shortly before 2:00 p.m. on Yonge Street at County Road 89.

Police say the injured teen was driving the car which collided head-on with a dump truck, the dump truck caught fire.

Ornge was called to the scene and transported the teen to St. Mike's Hospital in Toronto.

South Simcoe Police Constable Rich Williamson says the teen’s injuries are serious but he is expected to recover.

Police closed Yonge Street between the 2nd Line and Gilford Road for the investigation.

The road was reopened around 9:30 p.m. Thursday night.
