Plans to build a new hospital are leaning toward a site on a Collingwood sideroad.

The board of trustees for Collingwood General and Marine Hospital are recommending a site on Poplar Sideroad as their first choice for a new facility.

Three sites are under consideration, including the current hospital site on Hume Street and a site in Wasaga Beach. However, the board wants Poplar Sideroad to be the top choice.

Before a final decision is made, there will be public meetings next week.

The hospital board has to submit its final report to the province by the end of September, before the ministry makes its decision.
