A series of crimes across Simcoe County had police turning to the public for help this weekend.

South Simcoe Police are still investigating a shooting incident in Cookstown last weekend. On Saturday police canvassed the area in search for answers.

Police were called to Cookstown last Saturday, when someone reported hearing gunshots.  Officers checked the neighbourhood, but weren’t able to find anything out of the ordinary.

The following day, someone living in the area found used shell casings. Police then later found a boarded-up window on a nearby home.  Police searched the home and collected evidence, but are still hoping someone in the community will come forward with more information.

Meanwhile in Beeton OPP were also out canvassing on Saturday, after a school was vandalised earlier in the week. Seventy four windows were smashed at Tecumseth Beeton Elementary School. More than 30 solar panels on the roof of the school were also damaged.

Police believe the vandalism happened sometime between 8:30 Wednesday night and 7 p.m. Thursday morning.  Police are asking anyone who may have any information to contact Police or Crime Stoppers.
