A woman is facing several charges after an OPP officer was allegedly assaulted during a traffic stop.

Police say a car was stopped in Midland early yesterday and the woman driver allegedly assaulted and tried to disarm the officer after being asked if she'd been drinking.

The woman was arrested after the officer called for assistance.

A 19-year-old Penetanguishene woman is charged with assaulting a peace officer, assault with intent to resist arrest, disarming a peace officer, speeding, and novice driver with blood alcohol above zero.
