Progressive Conservative leader Patrick Brown has been confirmed as the candidate for Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte.
Brown made the confirmation at a news event on Thursday evening.
The current Barrie riding, which encompasses only the city itself, was taken by Liberal Ann Hoggarth in the 2014 election.
The riding has since been separated into Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte and Barrie-Innisfil.
The election is supposed to be held sometime before early June.
