After days of snow squalls, residents in Parry Sound are now preparing for a change in the weather.

With the temperatures expected to hit five degrees this weekend, residents are now thinking about possible flooding.

On Friday, snow removal crews were everywhere in town trying to catch up.

“We’re just keeping an eye on things. The guys are going and doing their runs, they’re cleaning up as best they can were almost maxing out on hours so we got be careful of that,” says Peter Brown with the Town of Parry Sound. “We’re probably going to start coming in Saturday afternoon or if we’re called in, we’ll get enough guys in, we’ll keep an eye on the catch basin and clear them out with big machines.

There’s so much concern about the rain, many residents were clearing off their rooftops on Friday.

“As soon as the rain hits it, the weights so for me at home it’s the eaves, getting the eaves clean at the cottage,” says Glenn Robinson.

The town is asking homeowners to try and keep their fire hydrants in front of their homes clear.
