The owners of a feed mill that was destroyed by fire last week has set up shop in a new location.

The Alliston Feed Service opened its doors on Monday morning at a new spot on Yonge Street. The owners are determined to get back to work, but are asking customers to be patient.

“We started working here Friday night Saturday and Sunday, we have been bringing in product and setting up so we could be open seven o'clock Monday morning,” says owner Peter Dockerty.

Hundreds of farms across the region rely on the mill for livestock feed. Arrangements have been made with four other mills to make sure everyone's animals are taken care of.

Firefighters were back at the scene on Monday extinguishing hot spots.

The fire broke out early Friday morning, destroying the century old feed mill. It has been the focus of a criminal investigation ever since.

Heavy equipment was brought in on Saturday to allow fire investigators to comb through the debris. The property has since been released to the owners.

The OPP say they are reviewing video captured by witnesses, but so far no arrests have been made.

Long-time customers are pleading support for the business they've relied on for generations.

“I figured something would happen immediately because he has such a large clientele and he's gotta look after it and he did look after it,” says farmer Bruce Nicholls.

“This is perfect. This is going to be a good location for him.”
