The provincial government says it's putting just over a million dollars into a new auto parts plant in Alliston, northwest of Toronto.

The province says the grant to Howa Canada from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund is expected to help create 40 jobs.

It says Howa's new plant will be a state-of-the-art facility supplying interior trim components for the 2016 Civic built at the Honda assembly plant in Alliston.

Howa has operations in Asia and the U-S but this is the company's first manufacturing plant in Canada
