After more than two years of construction and congestion, Barrie’s realigned Lakeshore Drive is almost finished.

Crews will complete the remaining landscape work as well as repairs to the Lakeshore Drive which includes top lift of asphalt.

Lakeshore Drive has been reconstructed from Toronto Street to 100 meters north of Tiffin Street with new storm sewers, curbs and gutters, a raised centre median, and on-street parallel parking.

Improvements have also been made to Bunker’s and Dyment’s Creek.

The next phase of construction along Barrie’s waterfront will soon get underway.

Crews will be transforming Centennial Park this summer that will include a larger beach area, a boardwalk, more parkland and an additional 240 parking spots.  There will also be separate paths for cyclist, walkers and runners.

The final phase of the project is expected to take two years to complete.
