York Regional Police say a man was found with incapacitating drugs and was planning to meet up with a teenage boy in Newmarket for a sexual encounter.

Undercover officers posing as a 14-year-old boy made contact with 28-year-old Kyle Carriere after a post was made on a website. The personal ad was seeking sex with young people.

Police say the accused sent emails and texts containing sexual photos. Conversations also included the accused’s intention to perform sexual acts on the teenager.

On July 10, the accused was arrested in Newmarket where he arranged to meet the 14-year-old. Police say Carriere was in possession of drugs they believe he planned to use to incapacitate the child.

The Toronto man has been charged with child luring, invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age, possession of child pornography, and various drug offences.

Carriere is believed to have been active online under the username “kyeguy1988.” Police are releasing the accused’s image in the hopes that anyone who had interaction with him will come forward.

Carriere will appear in court on Thursday.
