An Innisfil man has been arrested in connection with a series of unusual sexual assaults involving women’s feet.

The man is accused of several instances of licking women’s feet and stealing their shoes in Barrie, Innisfil, Bradford, Barrie and Aurora.

Police allege that a man entered a Richmond Hill tanning salon on Nov. 19, and questioned a woman about her shoes. He asked if he could see one of her shoes up close, then smelled the shoe and fled with it.

That same day South Simcoe Police say a man, with a similar description, entered the Adam and Eve Tanning Salon on Innisfil Beach Road in Alcona. While being shown a tanning room, the man sexually assaulted the woman clerk and fled the scene. Kelsey Macguire says one of her young female staff members were on shift at the time.

“He was telling her that she had really pretty feet and stuff like that and then he got on all fours and started sucking on her toes.”

The salon has since installed new, better quality video cameras.

Then on Nov. 20 a man entered another Richmond Hill tanning salon and questioned a woman about her boots. He grabbed her leg, pulled off her boot and sock and licked her foot. He then left the salon with her boot and sock.

Also on Nov. 20, a man walked into a tanning salon on Bayfield Street in Barrie and started talking to the salon employee. He dropped down on all fours, grabbed the employee’s leg and removed her footwear and began to lick her foot without consent and the fled the scene.

On Wednesday, a 28-year-old man turned himself into York Regional Police. Police say the picture of the suspect they released helped in the case.

“The coverage on this led to a number of tips and gave investigators a lead to follow,” says York Regional Constable Laura Nicolle.

He faces four sexual assault charges and one charge of sexual interference with a person under the age of 16, three counts of theft under $5,000 and one count of robbery.
