A 31-year-old man is facing charges after an armed robbery in Barrie’s south end on Thursday morning.
It happened around 8:30 a.m. at the Subway restaurant at a plaza on Essa Road.
Police say the man entered the store and ordered a breakfast sandwich. When the employee punched it into the till and asked for payment, the man pulled out a large kitchen knife, jumped on the counter and demanded the employee open the till and give him money. .
The employee gave the man the cash and he fled on Essa Road.
Police responded to the call within minutes and setup a perimeter. A K9 unit tracked the man to a nearby home and were able to arrest him.
He is facing a robbery and dangerous weapon charges and remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing.
