A Barrie man has been charged after allegedly beating his elderly father over a dispute about a vehicle.

According to Barrie police, the 41-year-old man forced his way inside his parent’s house on Boag Court on Thursday, at around 4 p.m.

Once inside, investigators say the man spat and threw a cigarette in the face of his 81-year-old father. The man then allegedly began to repeatedly punch his father, knocking him to the floor.

Police say the man continued to punch and threaten to kill the victim if he did not comply with his requests. Officers say the man fled the scene after learning the police had been contacted.

The victim was taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre for treatment.

The accused was located a short time later and has been charged with two counts of threatening death, forcible entry, unlawfully in a dwelling and assault.

He will appear in a Barrie court at a future date.
