A Penetanguishene man accused in a child pornography and sexual assault investigation has entered a guilty plea.

Shayne Lund stood as each charge was read out loud to the Barrie court on Tuesday. He was visibly shaken, trying to hold back tears, and then wiping them away.

“Emotionally he is actually; he has been surprisingly good considering his age, but it was clear today, that he was emotional today,” says his lawyer Eginhart Ehlers. “It has been a very trying process for him.”

The 23-year-old was charged in the fall of 2013 – he has pleaded guilty to 35 charges, which include making and distributing child pornography, sexual assault and conspiring to administer a noxious substance.

According to court documents, there were 11 victims related to the charges against Lund.

“It’s the end of the first portion of a long process and in my view as it stands right now, it’s a fair resolution for Mr. Lund.”

Co-accused Avery Taylor previously pleaded guilty to 10 charges, while Kathryn Thompson pleaded guilty to 11. A number of these charges involve making and possessing child pornography and bestiality.

The crimes are said to have happened in Orillia in the summer of 2013.

Lund will undergo a forensic psychiatric assessment to determine if he's a dangerous offender. That will happen sometime in the coming months.
