An inquest has been called into a fatal fire in East Gwillimbury in 2013 that claimed the lives of four members of the same family.

Kevin Dunsmuir, 55, Jennifer Dunsmuir, 51, Robert Dunsmuir, 19, and Cameron Dunsmuir, 16, all died in a house fire on March 29, 2013.

An investigation by the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal showed the fire started in a clogged dryer vent on the main floor.

The investigation also showed there was no smoke alarm on the main floor and when the second floor alarm was activated by the smoke, it was too late.

The inquest will look at the events around the fir and the jury may make recommendations to try and prevent similar deaths.

No date has been set yet for the inquest.
