An Innisfil man allegedly tried to flee from police after being pulled over for impaired driving.
According to South Simcoe Police, officers were notified about an impaired driver in the area of Innisfil Beach Road and 25th Sideroad, on Saturday morning.
Officers located the vehicle a short time later, and police say the driver showed signs of intoxication. When officers tried to arrest the man, the driver allegedly fought back and attempted to escape.
However, the man was apprehended and was transported to a South Simcoe Police detachment. Police say they requested a breath sample from the man, but he refused.
The 51-year-old is charged with impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample and assault to resist arrest.
The accused will appear before a court in June.
