Myrtle the turtle was released back into the Tiny Marsh Wildlife area on Friday August 29th, 2014 after recovering from a terrible car accident.

"She's actually Snapping Turtle number 14-244 but I liked Myrtle better," said Naturalist Bob Bowles.

Myrtle, who is a whopping 70 years old, spent several months at the Kawartha Turtle Trauma Centre recuperating.

Volunteers at the centre are very excited that their team was able to save a turtle.

Myrtle was carrying 19 eggs at the time of the accident.

Those eggs have been in an incubator and will be released into the marsh once they hatch this fall.
