Fire officials say a large brush fire in Huntsville was likely caused by a trespasser who was burning during restricted hours.

The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry ‎responded to the brush fire around 2:30 pm Monday in the area of Brunel Rd. and Muskoka Rd. 10.

The brush fire had spread across approximately 2 hectares and engulfed a workshop and vehicle on the property.

Damage to workshop and vehicle is estimated at $30,000.

The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department would like to remind residents that there is no Daytime Burning allowed.

Officials say the fire is an example of how a fire can quickly get out of control when burning during restricted hours.
