York Regional Police have charged a Waterloo man in the death of an elderly woman in Richmond Hill.

On Saturday, police were called to a hospital in the town after an injured man walked in around 5 a.m. Police received information from there that led them to an apartment on Baif Boulevard, where a 71-year-old woman was found dead.

Police have now charged the woman’s 23-year-old grandson with second-degree murder. The accused will appear before a court in Newmarket on Wednesday.

Investigators have determined a cause of death, but say it won’t be released.
