Flags in Barrie, Bracebridge and Caledon have been lowered after a reservist from Hamilton,who was standing as honour guard at the National War Memorial in Ottawa, died after being shot Wednesday morning.
Barrie Police sent out a tweet Wednesday afternoon saying they were had lowered the flag outside the police station.
Barrie Mayor Jeff Lehman also tweeted saying flags at City Hall and fire stations have been lowered.

A short time later the mayor of Bracebridge, Graydon Smith, tweeted out that they too had lowered the flag outside town hall to mark the death of the solider in Ottawa.

The Town of Caledon also announced on Wednesday they will lower the flags at all town facilities to honour the soldier. The town aslo extended their condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of soldier.
The soldier who was standing guard at the memorial was shot Wednesday morning and later died.
A gunman then entered Parliament, where dozens of shots rang out. The gunman died, but Ottawa Police and the RCMP would not confirm that the same person was responsible for both the war memorial and Parliament shootings.
