One person is dead following a house fire in the Town of The Blue Mountains on Wednesday afternoon.

Fire crews were called to the home on the 18th Side Road near the 10th Line around 1:00 p.m.

“We got a 9-1-1 call from a passerby on a cell phone reporting the house fire. When we arrived on scene the house was quite fully involved and we limited to a defensive operation, fighting the fire from the outside,” said The Blue Mountains Fire Chief Rob Collins.

Once the fire was out, the Ontario Fire Marshal discovered a body inside the burnt remains of the house.

The victim’s identity has not been released.

Investigators are still looking for the cause of the fire.
