The cooler weather this summer has produced some of the best fruits and vegetables that our farmers' fields have ever had.

Crops like corn need a temperature of about ten degrees to germinate, and if the temperature falls below that the corn become vulnerable to infection. Local farmers, however, are not worried.

“We're going to have enough heat to finish off all our crops for sure,” said Morris Gervais from Barrie Hill Farms.

“Overall the crop is lighter than normal because of last year’s cold winter but the berries that are here are ripe and a really good size.”

The tomato crops are a little late coming in this year, but we are told they will be well worth the wait.
