The driver of a tractor trailer involved in a T-bone crash near Alliston on Wednesday has been charged.

According to provincial police, the tractor trailer was travelling along Airport Road on Wednesday, at around 9 a.m. when the driver ran a red light and collided with a pickup truck.

Investigators have since charged the driver with failing to stop for a red light under the Highway Traffic Act.

The driver of the pickup had to be cut out of the vehicle by emergency crews. Both drivers only suffered minor injuries.

The tractor trailer was carrying 40 cows at the time of the crash. Two of them died as a result; the others were taken to a veterinary clinic for assessment.

The road was closed for several hours while crews removed the vehicles.
