The Crown is asking for a stiff penalty for a man found guilty of shooting another man in Wasaga Beach in 2012.

Walter Almeida was found guilty of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and other charges in the shooting of a 22-year-old man at a 2012 Canada Day party.

The victim was shot in the head and abdomen but has since recovered from his injuries.

The Crown wants a ten year sentence.

In court for sentencing submissions on Friday, Almeida asked the judge to go easy on him because he has a young child at home.

The judge will deliver the sentence next month.
