Volunteers with Barrie & District Christmas Cheer are spending Saturday putting together toy and food baskets for people in the community.

“We’ve been pretty busy since we opened, since 9:30 this morning. We have a lot of families to get through”, says Steve Norman, a Christmas Cheer Volunteer.

Close to 1,800 local families will receive a basket this Christmas.

The organization has raised $210,000 for baskets but is still short $15,000.
