South Simcoe Police have laid charges in a collision where a pedestrian was dragged under a vehicle for half a kilometre.

On March 6, a pedestrian was walking on Holland Street West, when they were struck by a pickup truck at the Melbourne Drive intersection.

According to investigators, the man grabbed onto the truck to try and get the driver’s attention. However, the victim was dragged for 500 metres.

The pedestrian had to be extricated from beneath the vehicle and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

On Thursday, the driver of the pickup, a 33-year-old Bradford man, was charged with careless driving and fail to properly wear a seatbelt.

The accused is set to appear in court in June.
