A man has been charged with sexual assault following an incident Thursday afternoon in Barrie.

Police say around 3:00 p.m., a 24-year-old woman was walking along the north shore trail when a man travelling on a bikecrashed into a bush.

According to officers,  the woman tended to the man and she thought he was suffering from heat stroke due to his erratic behaviour.

The woman offered to grab the man some water from a nearby storebut then police say he suddenly became belligerent and grabbed the woman’s private areas.

The woman was able to get away from the man and called the police.

Police located the man and arrested himand are now looking into whether alcohol, drugs or medical conditions were a factor.

The 26-year-old Barrie man is being charged with one count of sexual assault.
