A 22-year-old man has been charged with assault after an incident involving him and his landlord in Barrie on Wednesday night.

Police were called to Ross Street around 10:00 p.m. by the landlord of the building after he said he was head-butted by a tenant.

Multiple residents and witnesses were on scene and identified the tenant as the one responsible for the head-butting.

The man was arrested for assault and taken to the Barrie police station to await a bail hearing.

Police say the man continued to be angry inside the cell and punched a light fixture causing a cut that required stitches.

The man was expected to appear in court on Thursday.
