The Barrie Food Bank is collecting donations in order to give local community members a Thanksgiving dinner.

The Food Bank, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, will distribute 56,000 donation bags on Thursday in the Barrie Advance.

The donation bags can be dropped off at any local grocery store or at the Barrie Food Bank at 42 Anne St. south Unit 2 behind Pioneer Family Pools.

In the last year the food bank has served over 29,000 people and over 840,000 pounds of food.

The goal of the Thanksgiving Food Drive this year is to raise 145,000 pounds of food and $100,000.
