A baby raccoon that was found seriously burned in a Barrie park is recovering well.

Officials at the Procyon Wildlife Centre in Beeton say the animal is in good condition. They say she's been given some fluids, adding that her eyes are in good shape and the burns are healing.

Staff at the centre are thanking everyone who has been donating to help with the raccoon's care.

Officials at Procyon have called this one of the worst cases of animal cruelty they have seen.

Barrie police are still investigating.
