A young woman from Orillia will stay in prison awaiting trial on several charges related to crimes against children after she was denied bail on Friday.

Avery Taylor has been in custody for almost a year. She had a bail hearing last year and on Thursday a bail review.

Taylor waited anxiously for the decision, biting her lip, sitting quietly in the courtroom. Some of her family were also in attendance.

The judge read the decision quickly, Taylor was not granted bail. Because of a publication ban, we can’t report the reasons why.

As soon as she heard the decision, Taylor immediately leaned down, placed her cuffed hands on her forehead and started to cry.

Taylor is facing 18 charges in all. She is charged along with Shayne Lund and Kathryn Thompson. Lund has not had a bail hearing. Thompson was granted bail in the spring.

The three are jointly accused. Combined they are facing more than 100 charges.

The alleged crimes happened mostly in Orillia last summer, mainly involving young children. They include sexual assault, making and distributing child pornography, bestiality, and conspiring to administer a noxious substance.

Taylor will remain in protective custody at Central North Correctional Centre in Penetanguishene.

Her lawyer told CTV he is not contemplating an appeal right now.

Shayne Lund, Avery Taylor and Kathryn Thompson are all scheduled to be back in court on September 24, 2014. The three of them will meet with an out-of-town judge to start streamlining the evidence that will be brought before the courts.
