Police in Huntsville are searching for a suspect after an armed robbery at a pharmacy Tuesday morning.

Investigators say a man armed with a weapon confronted the pharmacist at the IDA Drug Store on Main Street and obtain a quantity of prescription drugs.  

The pharmacist suffered minor injuries during the robbery.

As a precaution, Huntsville Public School was placed under a hold and secure order while police searched the area for the suspect. The order has since been lifted.

The suspect is described as a thin, white man with pale skin, approximately 5’6” – 5’7” tall. He was wearing a black balaclava, a black winter coat, dark pants and black and white shoes.

Police have also released details about a vehicle that may be connected to the robbery. The vehicle is described as a newer model 2-door hatchback, orange or red in colour, possibly a Honda or similar make.

An officer on the scene accidently discharged a firearm. As a result, the OPP will be commencing a secondary investigation.
