A 25-year-old Angus man has been charged with arson after a house fire in Barrie’s east end on Thursday night.
Emergency crews were called to the home on Jill’s Court just after 8 p-m. Once police arrived they learned that a man that is known to the residents had set the fire with gasoline and fled the area.
Nobody was in the home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.
A short time later the man was arrested at home in Angus and brought back to Barrie. He has been charged with arson and is in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
The Fire Marshal has been called to investigate.
