A Severn Township man has been charged after a crash on Highway 400 in March killing a Barrie woman.

The crash at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday March 5th involved six vehicles. OPP say a truck took out the guardrail underneath the 4th Line bridge in Innisfil.

According to police, a tractor trailer carrying lumber was travelling south when it lost control as traffic ahead of it was slowing for a crash further down the highway. The tractor trailer then rear-ended a cube truck, forcing it through the guard rail into oncoming traffic where it struck a car and a minivan. Two other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The woman driving the minivan, a 51-year-old woman from Barrie, was taken to hospital where she died from her injuries.

The driver of the tractor trailer, a 45-year-old man from Severn Township, has been charged with criminal negligence causing death. He was expected to make a court appearance on Wednesday in Barrie.
