A man who fell asleep at the wheel, while heading through the drive-thru of a Barrie McDonald’s was handed more than a late night snack on Saturday.

Barrie police were called to the McDonald’s Restaurant on Barrie View Drive, at around 5:10 a.m. after a man allegedly fell asleep, while going through the drive-thru.

Investigators say witnesses attempted to wake the man and he responded by saying he had too much to drink.

The driver was arrested and police say the man blew twice the legal blood alcohol limit on a breath test.

The 23-year-old Kleinberg man was charged with impaired driving. His licence has been suspended for 90 days and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

The accused will appear in court next month.
