A cottage has been reduced to ashes in Lake of Bays after a fire broke out on Saturday night.
Baysville fire crews were dispatched to a structure fire on the south side of Menominee Lake, but upon arrival they discovered a private road that had not been maintained through the winter months.
With their trucks obstructed by the condition of the road, firefighters trekked out on foot. While walking on the road, crews found that a tree had fallen over hydro lines, leaving live wires on the ground.
It took firefighters over an hour to finally reach the cottage and by that time the cottage it nothing but ashes.
No one was at the cottage at the time of the fire and investigators believe downed power lines are to blame.
