Highway 400 has reopened in Bradford West Gwillimbury after a truck hauling a trailer filled with cement blocks rolled in the northbound lanes.

The truck was travelling on the 400 near Highway 89 on Tuesday afternoon when its trailer flipped, sending cement blocks all over the road. No injuries are reported.

“I was just speaking to the officer in charge and he was grateful this cement barrier has been updated,” OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said on Periscope. “This has all been prevented from going across the lanes, which could have easily resulted in serious injuries or fatalities.”

The OPP say at one point traffic was backed up about 10 kilometres on Highway 400. Vehicles were detoured at Highway 88.

The road has been cleared and has reopened.
