Fire destroyed a home south of Shelburne on Friday morning.

Twelve trucks and 50 firefighters from Caledon, Rosemont and Orangeville arrived at the scene and found the roof and walls of the house on fire.

Caledon Fire says firefighters are having difficulty fighting the fire due to the windy conditions and cold temperatures.

“It was obviously very cold today, the wind did play a factor once the fire did vent through the roof, the wind did drive the flames towards the south,” said Caledon Fire Prevention Officer Dave Pelayo.

Fortunately the homeowners were able to escape safely.

“There were no injuries; the homeowners were out before our arrival. No firefighters were injured,” says Pelayo.

Homeowners declined to comment on the fire but CTV News learned they are staying with friends and do have insurance.
