HAMILTON - A 32-year-old Hamilton woman is facing fraud charges after allegedly bilking a provincial agency out of hundreds of thousands of dollars for fake cancer treatments.

Hamilton police say the case came to their attention due to discrepancies in claims filed to the Ontario Disability Support Program.

Police allege Sarah Lucas submitted claims for cancer treatments, as well as for residency in a hotel while she was supposed to be receiving medical attention.

Police say Lucas' claims were untrue and wound up costing the program more than $200,000.

Lucas is now charged with fraud over $5,000, two counts of identity fraud and two counts of using forged documents.
