Gusty winds are getting the blame for a small plane crash north or Orillia on Sunday afternoon.

The OPP say the experienced pilot had just taken off from a grassy airstrip near Washago, when a wind gust caused the plane to crash into a wooded area.

The plane landed in the treeline upside down.

The pilot, a man in his 70s, was taken to hospital with minor injuries. He has since been released.

The investigation has concluded.
