A farmer in Everett is hoping his giant pumpkin will be a winner.

Russ Landry’s prized pumpkin weighs 1400 lbs. and is still growing.

It’s gaining about 10 pounds each day:

“The roots are monsters. The roots here are spread out all over the place. This is a thousand square foot pumpkin plant,” says Landry. “The leaves are the size of a large elephant’s ears.”

The pumpkin needs more than 50 gallons of water a day.

It will be lifted with a harness and sent to Woodbridge in about a month to compete in an International giant pumpkin competition.
