A Georgina man has upset dog owners after he posted a sign on his property warning of what he would do to dogs whose owners didn’t clean-up after them.

Dog owners in Jackson's Point were upset after a sign put up by the man who was fed up with picking-up dog poop from his front lawn.

The sign read: “Hey **!hole, pick-up your dog *!%* or I will poison your dog. Don’t *!%* with me.”

Greg Katz, the person who put the sign up, told CTV News that York Regional Police came by on Wednesday to talk about it and says he took it down and regrets putting it up.

On Thursday, Katz posted on Facebook, “My apologies for offending anyone. The sign is down and I would never harm anyone’s pet.” He went on to say, “I was just trying to let someone new in the neighbourhood know how ignorant they were being but not picking up after their dog.”

Neighbours said they understand Katz’s frustration but also that the message went too far.

“It was a bit over the top. I know it’s not nice to have dogs pooping on your property as he says but the part about killing the dogs with poison or whatever it was is quite over the top,” says Brian Manson.

Police say anyone who puts this type of sign up could be charged with uttering threats but no charges have been laid in this case.

At the same time, people who don’t pick-up after their pets could also face a fine.
