Two people are homeless after a fire ripped through a home in Springwater Township on Monday morning.

Fire crews from Barrie and Springwater Township battled the large house fire on County Road 90, just west of Miller’s Lumber.

Flames could be seen coming out of the roof, and smoke pouring out of the windows of the multi-unit house. The initial investigation has determined the fire started at the back of the building.

The two tenants were not home when the fire started. However, investigators say a dog and a litter of puppies were unaccounted for.

The home is considered to be a total loss and the cause is not considered suspicious.

OPP have reopened County Road 90 after they closed it for several hours.
