Firefighters will return to the scene of a large brush fire in Ramara Township on Wednesday to battle hot spots for a third straight day.

Ramara fire crews  spent Tuesday hosing down the charred remains of a brush area near Concession Road D & E in Sebright. Firefighters are still dealing with a number of hot spots and flare ups.

According to Ramara fire chief Dave McCarthy, the fire consumed 20 hectares of brush. Crews have been battling the blaze since Monday afternoon.

At one point 70 firefighters were fighting the flames on the ground, while Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry aided from the skies with three water bombers.

A cause has not yet been determined, but conditions in the area are considered dry. A continued concern for fire crews has been the wind, and while it’s died down, there’s a chance it could pick back up again.

McCarthy says they could really use some rain.

Crews are expected to remain on scene on for most of Tuesday and could return to the scene on Wednesday.
