Firefighters are currently battling a fire at a smokehouse in Adjala-Tosorontio.
Fire crews were called to County Road 50, just outside of Loretto on Wednesday during the noon hour. Upon arrival, the smokehouse was engulfed in flames, which caused the roof of the building to collapse.
The owner, who lives on the property, says he uses the building to smoke his own personal meat. However, he says he hasn’t used it since last week.
Crews have taken a defensive approach and have contained the fire to the smokehouse.
No injuries are reported. A cause and damage estimate have not been determined.
The public is being asked to avoid the area.
