Fire tore through and destroyed a cottage and Bunkie on Bone Island in Georgian Bay Tuesday night.

Police say a neighbour called 911 after seeing the cottage engulfed in flames from across the water.

Investigators say the fire started at the roof level of a wood burning stove.

High winds made it difficult to fight the fire and Georgian Bay Fire is back on the scene today.

The owners managed to escape the fire before the cottage and Bunkie burned down.

A man and women were taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries.

The cause is still under investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the OPP at (705) 526-3761 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
