Fire crews are investigating a fire that damaged a home in Alliston late Thursday night.

The fire broke out just after 10 p.m. and had spread throughout the two storey home on Wellington Street West.

Officials said a neighbour saw the flames, called 911 and then ran over to the house and woke up the two residents who were sleeping.

"The neighbours were instrumental in this case, first of all notifying the people in the home of the fire because they hadn't detected it themselves and then two of them coming out with their hoses trying to work on containing the fire until we arrived," said New Tecumseth Fire Chief Dan Heydon.

No one was injured.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
