The fire that destroyed a Mount Albert fire station on the weekend started at a fire truck parked at the fire station.

The fire on February 2nd destroyed the volunteer fire hall, tremendous amount of equipment and six fire vehicles.

The town released a statement on Thursday saying the Office of the Fire Marshal has been investigating and determined the fire started at a truck.

The truck was a 2013 Rosenbauer Centurion Stainless Steel Pumper Rescue and East Gwillimbury Emergency Services owns two of these pumpers so as a precautionary measure the sister truck has been taken out of service and stored off-site until they can ensure it is safe.

The Town of East Gwillimbury assures residents that fire and emergency services are covered throughout the Town.

Arrangements have been made with adjacent fire services, Whitchurch-Stouffville and Georgina to ensure ongoing emergency services for the residents of East Gwilimbury, including Mount Albert.
