The mild start to March will abruptly end Wednesday night into Thursday as an extreme cold warning has been issued for parts of our region.

Environment Canada says another surge of cold air will move into southern Ontario Wednesday night and combine with winds to produce wind chill values of -30 C overnight and into Thursday morning.

The extreme cold weather warning is in effect for:

  • Midland - Coldwater - Orr Lake
  • Barrie – Collingwood – Hillsdale
  • Orillia - Lagoon City - Washago
  • Innisfil - New Tecumseth - Angus
  • Orangeville - Grand Valley - Dufferin County
  • Shelburne – Mansfield
  • Caledon
  • Bruce Peninsula - Sauble Beach – Tobermory
  • Owen Sound - Blue Mountains – Grey County
  • Newmarket - Georgina - Northern York Region
  • Uxbridge - Beaverton - Northern Durham Region

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.
