An emergency call at an Owen Sound hotel over the weekend has led to the discovery of several explosives and drugs.

Emergency crews were called to a hotel on 10th Street East on Saturday night for a man who was without vital signs. While tending to the man, first responders discovered an explosive device and ammunition.

The man was taken to hospital and is expected to survive. He has since been arrested, along with a woman who was also at the hotel.

Owen Sound police contacted the OPP to safely remove two explosive devices from the hotel.

Officers executed a search warrant at the man’s home on Sunday. Inside, police say they found another explosive device.

Police say a further search of the home on Monday led investigators to the ingredients used in making the device and the delivery system.

Investigators say they also found an assortment of pills, fentanyl, marijuana, and stolen property.

The 31-year-old man and 25-year-old woman now face 11 charges, which include possession of an explosive substance and possession of a prohibited weapon.

The investigation is ongoing.
